These are three volumes of the Metropolitan Catholic Almanac and Laity's Directory , 1850, 1851, 1852 (Volumes 18, 19, and 20). There is a great deal of information in each of these volumes, much more than that found in modern Official Catholic Directories. Covers are tan leather with decorative black rectangles on spines highlighted with gold detailing. Each book measures 7 1/4" X 4 3/4" X 1 1/4". Each book has a ribbon page marker and beautiful, colorful end papers front and back. The civil statistics section shows Zachary Taylor as President in 1850. He received a salary of $25,000.
