The general director Hideaki Anno proposed the project, and with the supervision of director Masaki Higuchi and assistant director Katsuro Onoe, the production was realized. ※"Orthochromatic" refers to a type of monochrome film that does not capture red tones called the "Orthochromatic film". It is also commonly referred to as "Ortho". This film is known for having a heavier contrast compared to the commonly used monochrome film "Panchromatic film".
